Walked down Pham Ngu Lao (the Backpackers' hub) and found some scrumptious bowl of beef Phô for less than $3. Asked the girl sitting next to me where to get a SIM, and made a new Aussie friend. Thus my night began. Chilled for a bit at a bar 30meters from where I'm staying with beer and Jaëger shots, then moved on to my current favourite chillout spot at the corner of the street. This place plays the best music - Rammstein, Greenday, System of a Down, Red Hot Chilli Peppers,... you name it. In fact, that's where I'm seated as I type this on my Aria.
We befriended an American and the night went on. Best thing bout traveling is the people you meet along the way, at random.
Following day - was zipping around Ho Chi Minh on a motorbike, passing several districts, with my new Vietnamese friend.
District 1 : Backpackers hub. Filled with tour agents, hostel, B&Bs, bars.... and not forgetting, insane traffic!
District 3 : similar to District 1, much less of a Backpackers' zone though
District 4 : Town houses, did not stop by, just breezed through
District 5: CHINATOWN!! But boy, do I adore this place. It's not your typical Chinatown with knock-off goods. This place is a gem; hardly any Caucasians in sight. We went to a craft haven - not over exaggerating!
District 7 : the posh area. Not to say I didn't enjoy it. It's quiet, looks like where all the expats are located. Hut there's no sense of adventure and action there. Oh, despite the huge ass party Tiger is throwing tonight, in conjunction with X'mas eve.
... to be continued
